We have finally released a new version of SAStk. This releases includes a number of large changes. Only Slackware 8.0 is supported in this release. If you are using Slackware 7.0 or 7.1, please use an older version of SAStk. Check the Release Notes for more information.




SAStk future plan revision 1

zyrnix posted a tenative plan for SAStk on the mailing list. We are currently going through the process of breaking up the 2600+ line script into something that will be a little easier to add features to and maintain.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please direct them either to the mailing list or to one of the developers.

This release is primarily for bug fixes and updates to the script itself:
- Fixed minor installer problem

We are currently writing a hardening script which disables selected services and daemons.This script also sets secure file permissions and password aging amongst other things.We hope to release an Alpha version of this script very soon.

What is SAStk?

Primary Objective: We aim to provide a set of tools and utilities to install and maintain a reasonable level of security for the Slackware Linux distribution.

How you can help: In an attempt to maintain a high standard we are keeping the number of developers to a minimum at this time. However there are many ways in which you can help this project. We would be very interested in hearing from people with the following skills.

  • Security Administration
  • Bash Programming
  • In-depth knowledge of buffer overflows and similar exploits.
  • A high level of experience and good understanding of Slackware Linux.
  • Experience in writing security and/or help documentation.
If you fall into one of these categories and would like to help or would just like to Alpha test please visit the project page or use the links to the left to contact the developers.
